These are some of the news headlined compiled across the world just to make aware my blog readers, the spiking of drinks and food items with drugs which causes the victim to loose consciousness for few hours or drained of all energies to offer any kind of resistance to the assailant. Some of these drugs are so common and easily available at various chemist stores. I can bet that most chemists even doesn’t know as to the alternative use/misuse of these drugs/medicines. The drugs which I am telling you about are having more than one use. These can be used as anaesthesia for some animals and generally used by vetenary doctors while performing operation on animals while the other use is by the criminals to incapacitate unsuspecting partners, travellers, other known/unknown persons co-attending party with the criminal, etc. The victim looses consciousness for 3-4 hours during which the criminal takes full advantage of the victim physically(by sexually assaulting the female victim)( a date rape or drug facilities sexual assault), financially(by dispossessing the victim of his/her money, ornaments, watches, mobile and other luggage item) and psychologically ( the victim after this incident always fear of others, will detach from the public, looses confidence, etc).

A date rape drug, also referred to as a predator drug, is any drug that is an incapacitating agent which, when administered to another person, incapacitates the person and renders them vulnerable to a drug facilitated sexual assault (DFSA), including rape. The most common types of DFSA are those in which a victim consumes a recreational drug such as alcohol administered surreptitiously. The most common form of DFSA is alcohol-related, with the victim in most cases consuming the alcohol voluntarily. Other date rape drugs include rohypnol, ketamine and gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB).

Ketamine, sold under the brand name Ketalar among others, is a medication mainly used for starting and maintaining anesthesia. It induces a trance-like state while providing pain relief, sedation, and memory loss.

Ketamine, categorized as a “dissociative anesthetic,”1 is used in powdered or liquid form as an anesthetic, usually on animals. It can be injected, consumed in drinks, snorted, or added to joints or cigarettes. Ketamine was placed on the list of controlled substances in the US in 1999.

Short- and long-term effects include increased heart rate and blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, numbness, depression, amnesia, hallucinations and potentially fatal respiratory problems. Ketamine users can also develop cravings for the drug. At high doses, users experience an effect referred to as “K-Hole,” an “out of body” or “near-death” experience.

Due to the detached, dreamlike state it creates, where the user finds it difficult to move, ketamine has been used as a “date-rape” drug.

Ketamine was first synthesized in 1962 by Parke-Davis.

Ketamine blocks the neurotransmitter glutamate at the receptor, causing a trance-like state and disconnection from one’s environment.

Xylazine is an analogue of clonidine and an agonist at the α₂ class of adrenergic receptor. It is used for sedation, anesthesia, muscle relaxation, and analgesia in animals such as horses, cattle and other non-human mammals.

What is GHB?

GHB or Gamma Hydroxybutyrate (C4H8O3) is a central nervous system (CNS) depressant that is commonly referred to as a “club drug” or “date rape” drug. GHB is abused by teens and young adults at bars, parties, clubs and “raves” (all night dance parties), and is often placed in alcoholic beverages. Euphoria, increased sex drive, and tranquility are reported positive effects of GHB abuse.1,2 Negative effects may include sweating, loss of consciousness (reported by 69 percent of users), nausea, hallucinations, amnesia, and coma, among other adverse effects.

Methods of GHB Abuse

GHB is available as an odorless, colorless drug that may be combined with alcohol and given to unsuspecting victims prior to sexual assaults. It may have a soapy or salty taste. Use for sexual assault has resulted in GHB being known as a “date rape” drug. Victims become incapacitated due to the sedative effects of GHB, and they are unable to resist sexual assault. GHB may also induce amnesia in it’s victim. Common user groups include high school and college students and rave party attendees who use GHB for its intoxicating effects.

GHB has also been postulated to have anabolic effects due to protein synthesis, and has been used by body-builders for muscle building and reducing fat.

GHB is bought on the streets or over the Internet in liquid form or as a white powdered material for illicit use. It is taken orally and is frequently combined with alcohol. Much of the GHB found on the streets or over the Internet is produced in illegal labs. GHB may be adulterated with unknown contaminants that may worsen it’s toxicity. The production of GHB usually involves the use of lye or drain cleaner mixed with GBL, a chemical cousin of GHB and an industrial solvent often used to strip floors.

Roofie is the slang term for Flunitrazepam, a hypnotic sedative drug and a muscle relaxant. … In parties or clubs, roofies are known to be the “date rape drugs,” sneaked discreetly into a woman’s drink so she would lose consciousness or resistance, making her an easy target for sexual assaults or kidnapping.
